| Simply fold the skirt lengthwise from top to bottom one time . . . |

| . . . two times, three times (however many times needed to get it to a manageable thickness). Be sure to align the folds and keep them tidy. |

| Place the skirt on a self-healing cutting mat, then measure the length you wish to remove, and place a yardstick evenly across the length where the cut will be made. Using the markings on the cutting mat will help to produce a straight line along which to cut. |

| With a rotary cutter, cut the fabric using the yardstick as a guide. Press firmly and be very careful not to get cut. (The blade on a rotary cutter is extremely sharp.) |

| Using a hot iron, press a 1/4 to 1/2-inch hem all around. Repeat this process by folding the pressed hem 1/4 to 1/2-inch on itself, and press a second time. (This will hide the raw edges.) Pin the hem in place, if desired. Stitch the hem with a straight stitch all around making sure to lock the final stitch in place by backstitching. |
