JUST WONDERING . . .
I've been wondering what would happen if I treated my Bible like I treat my cell phone.
What if I carried it around in my purse or pockets?
What if I flipped through it several times a day?
What if I turned back to go get it if I forgot it?
What if I used it to receive messages from the Text?
What if I treated it like I couldn't live without it?
What if I gave it to the kids as gifts?
What if I used it when I traveled?
What if I used it in cases of emergency?
This is something to make me go, "Hmmmmm . . . where is my Bible?"

A MUST READ FOR THOSE WITH KIDDOS
Our children are watching and doing as we do, not necessarily as we say...
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me, and I learned that little things can be the special things in life.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in God.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing, and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don't.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I felt you kiss me good night, and I felt loved and safe.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it, and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw how you handled your responsibilities (even when you didn't feel so good), and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked at you and wanted to say, "Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking."
Each of us, parent or friend, influence the life of a child.

A CHUCKLE 4U - "Words"
"It is really asking too much of a woman to expect her to bring up her husband and her children too." ~Lillian Bell
Let me explain . . .
A husband, proving to his wife that women talk more than men, showed her a study which indicated that men use on the average only 15,000 words a day, whereas women use 30,000 words a day.
She thought about this for awhile and then told her husband that women use twice as many words as men because they have to repeat everything they say.
He said, "What?"

CA$H IN ON TODAY
There are two days in every week about which we should not worry - - two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.
One of these days is YESTERDAY with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring back yesterday. We cannot undo a single act we performed - - we cannot erase a single word we said. YESTERDAY IS GONE!!
The other day we should not worry about is TOMORROW with its possible adversities, its burdens, its large promise and poor performance. Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control. Tomorrow's sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds - - but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in it, for TOMORROW IS AS YET UNBORN!!
This leaves only one day - TODAY. Any man can fight the battles of just one day. It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternities - - YESTERDAY and TOMORROW - - that we break down. It is not the experience of today that drives men mad - - it is remorse or bitterness for something which happened yesterday and the dread of what tomorrow may bring.
Let us, therefore, live but one day at a time. YESTERDAY is a cancelled check, TOMORROW is a promissory note, but TODAY is cash!

SNAKE ON A FENCE
The pictures below show a Rock Python in South Africa. It had eaten an impala ewe, and was killed when it tried to go through an electric fence. This specimen was over 4 meters long!
These wires were said to be 10-inches apart. Yikes!!!

DOES THIS COUNT?
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
EH, WHAT DO WE KNOW?

God always has a positive thought for us.
I NEVER . . . I DIDN'T . . . I HADN'T . . . HOW ABOUT YOU?
Before I was a Mom -
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom -
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom -
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache,
the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.
PECANS-A-PLENTY CAKE
So now I'll make it as an old wife and mother. Haha!
"Beauty" and I baked this cake yesterday. We followed the recipe to the "T," except we forgot to use Self-Rising flour. Eh, the cake came out heavy, but edible. Kind of like Pecans-a-Plenty bars instead of cake. It wasn't as delicious as I remembered. We are going to make it again, only next time we'll remember to use the right flour.
The recipe calls for baking in two 8 or 9-inch cake pans, and it actually looks a lot prettier if you bake it in the round. We decided to take the easy route for time's sake, and we just put it in a 9x13 pan. (The recipe explains how to adjust the ingredients for a 9x13 pan.)
I encourage you to try it if you like pecans and cake. Just remember to use Self-Rising flour. ;)

SQUARE WATERMELONS
[The following information was taken from CNN.com/WORLD entitled, "Japan Corners the Market on Square Fruit" dated June 15, 2001 by Thom Patterson (CNN.com writer)]
Farmers in the southern Japanese town of Zentsuji have figured out how to grow their watermelons so they turn out square. It's not a fad. The technique actually has practical applications. "The reason they're doing this in Japan is because of lack of space," said Samantha Winters of the National Watermelon Promotion Board in Orlando, Florida.
A fat, round watermelon can take up a lot of room in a refrigerator, and the usually round fruit often sits awkwardly on refrigerator shelves. But clever Japanese farmers have solved this dilemma by forcing their watermelons to grow into a square shape. Farmers insert the melons into square, tempered glass cases while the fruit is still growing on the vine.
The square boxes are the exact dimensions of Japanese refrigerators, allowing full-grown watermelons to fit conveniently and precisely onto refrigerator shelves. But cubic fruit comes with a caveat: Each square watermelon costs 10,000 yen, the equivalent of about $82. Regular watermelons in Japan cost from $15 to $25 each.
Check out the video below to for directions on how to grow your own square watermelon.
