LOOKING BACK AT OUR "CUTIE"

Here's our "Cutie."  She's a pretty neat young lady . . . fiery and bold - like really hot salsa! Her daddy calls her a firecracker because she can be loud, dangerous, and beautiful at any given time. She's also sharp as a tack, and can track down our lost items as good as any ole bloodhound. She makes me laugh, cry, and fume - sometimes all at the same time. (Oh, that girl! :) 

I call her my little "bug." Sometimes she is like a lovely little ladybug - all gentle, loving, and quiet. Other times, she is as pesky as a mosquito buzzing and biting! No matter. I decided a very long time ago, that I love my sweet girl, and couldn't imagine life without her. So, "Happy Birthday, Cutie!" I love you very much.  Don't  you ever forget it, okay? Just keep on being you. I think you're great.

I AM A MISSIONARY

I am a missionary. I am being used of God to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. I have a tremendous task.

I am a missionary: yet the weakness of the body does not slow me down. I never get a headache. I never have a cold. I never get tired.

I am a missionary that knows no barriers. I can reach into the homes of the rich and the poor, into respectable homes and into the places of ill repute. The race or creed of a man does not restrain me. Bars are not a barrier to me, nor are the curtains of iron or bamboo.

I am a welcomed missionary. Homes are open to me that would never open to a preacher. Ears will hear my message eagerly, though they would never go to an evangelical church.

I am an educated missionary. I speak the language perfectly and I speak so the professional can understand as well as the uneducated. I can approach every person on his level of understanding.

I am an effective missionary. I can reach more people at one time than Paul reached in a lifetime. I can cover more territory with the Gospel in fifteen minutes than the average missionary could cover in many months.

I am man-made…but God sent!

CHA - CHING!

I've been saving our loose change since November. The containers I was using finally got full. I couldn't have stuffed another coin in them - and believe me, I tried.

I made the decision to keep shaking the containers each time I added new coins. Y'know, kinda "squish" out any air that might be taking up space. Nuttin' but change. Haha! (Well, I did manage to save a few bills, too, but it was mainly loose change.)

The kids had been asking if they could count it. I said, "Sure." (Hey, kept me from having to do it. ;)

They poured it all out on the dining room table, and enthusiastically began separating, stacking, and counting. Needless-to-say, I was floored when they presented me with the final tally.

ABSOLUTELY FLOORED!

Here's what all that "mula" looked like when it was stacked and counted.

"Beauty' had the fun job of counting all the pennies. No one else wanted to do it. By the time she was finished, her fingers were filthy. (Talk about "Filthy lucre.")

These were the containers I used. A 12 oz. IBC soft drink bottle (pennies only); a 6 or 8 oz. Parmesan cheese container (pennies and silver); and a cute patchwork bunny bank (silver only).

Wanna know how much I collected? Take a guess. I guessed 30 to 40 bucks. What about you?? Be sure to leave me a comment and tell me what your guess was, okay? Thanks!

The total of all the coinage and bills in the picture above was as follows:

Pennies - $ 7.20                    Quarters - $ 109.50

Nickles - $ 9.30                    "Gold" $1 Coins - $ 1.00

Dimes -   $28.90                   Bills - $ 20.00

Thus making it a WHOPPING $175.90!  How about that?

DO BABIES DREAM?

Ever wondered if your baby dreams? Wouldn't it be cool if we could see into their little "dream world?" One mom from Helsinki, Finland, Adele Enerson, has managed to do just that. When her daughter, Mila, is asleep, Adele creates amazing scenes depicting endless "dream" possibilities. She then photographs her work. She and baby have become quite the overnight sensation. 
 

This is my favorite - a cute little bookworm.

How adorable is this???

 

She's even yawning! Remember how the Princess couldn't sleep because of the Pea?

Absolutely amazing! Adele is a photographic genius. That's just a rolled up towel holding those toiletries. It looks so real, doesn't it? Now why couldn't I have thought of doing this?

FEELING KIND OF HOMESICK

These are my FAVORITE potato chips. (They make me homesick.) I can not buy them here, and that is mighty disappointing.



They are also sold in these cool "buckets," or barrels, if you prefer.



These chips are the closest I've come to finding anything similar to Middleswarth. I prefer the Original.

BUMPER STICKERS

GOING FOR A TEST DRIVE

Here is little man walking around our local Walmart with this hat. I can't tell you how many times we would search out this particular hat for him to wear while we did our shopping. It must've been at least 3 or 4 times. Usually, he was being pushed in the stroller, however, this day we let him out to walk. He was just too cute! I had to snap a couple of pictures. That did it. I made up my mind to buy the hat. I figured if he loved it in "Wally World" he would love it in the real world. It turned out to be a good decision on my part because the cold weather set in that weekend. I was really glad he had proper protection for his head.



He also got a pair of black mittens. You can see them attached to the hat underneath the price tag in this picture.

You may be wondering why I didn't make the purchase the first time we saw the hat and mittens. Why did we take them for a "test drive?" Well, I just hated the thought of paying for something that he might not wear. By observing him in the store I realized he LIKED wearing the hat, and that most likely he would wear it outside when he needed it the most. This has proven to be the case, and I am quite happy about the whole thing.

Plus, I got these two darlin' pictures, and something more to blog about. Ya can't beat that.   :) 

A WINNING COMBO

 I'm not a big football fan (only because I've never taken time to understand the game), but hubby likes it. When these pictures were taken the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Jets went head-to-head. We cut up a juicy, sweet watermelon and had fun watching the game ... and little man. This one is quite the character.  :)

He didn't want to take his eyes off of the game. I wonder, just how much does a little one at his age understand?



He saw something on the screen that caused him to become quite animated.



Daddy's getting a kick out of little man's antics. You really can't tell in this picture, but he's roaming all over the living room and "whooping" it up. (Reckon you had to be there to fully appreciate the moment.)



"TOUCH DOWN!!!" Neither team made a touch down at this point in the game, but all we have to do is say the word and up go the hands.

I decided he was pretty sticky and wet after eating all that watermelon. (He ate THREE plates full!!) I gave him a bath and set him free. Look where he headed.

Freshly bathed, dressed, and back to ... THE WATERMELON!

SPLIT PEA SOUP

I decided to try out a new recipe, but wasn't sure how it would turn out for two reasons: 1) I wasn't sure anyone in our family would like the finished product, and 2) I have seen pictures of Split Pea Soup and it didn't look very appetizing. :(

However, to my surprise and delight, I arrived home to a wonderfully tempting aroma coming from the crockpot. I buttered a loaf of French bread, sprinkled it with a touch of garlic salt, and popped it in the broiler.  Everyone ate the soup, and only two didn't prefer it.

 In my opinion, I'd say my Split Pea Soup was a success. Yay!!!
